During the second week, please:
Continue practicing your fingerspelling (first and last names) (voices off, focusing on producing the letters clearly and accurately, speed is not an issue)
Review and practice WH Questions (WHO, WHAT, WHERE)
Review and practice your numbers in ASL (Can you ask/tell someone your phone number?)
Read about Deaf Culture in America
During the third week, please:
Continue fine-tuning your fingerspelling of your first and last names in ASL (voices off, producing the letters clearly and accurately, speed is now a factor)
Be able to clearly sign your phone number, ZIP code, and Age
Practice and review Y/N Questions and Facial Grammar
Practice and review colors in ASL
Read about American Sign Language and other modes of signing
During the fourth week, please:
Review and practice asking and responding to Y/N Questions in ASL, using appropriate facial grammar
Review and practice new WH Questions - WHY, HOW, WHAT, WHICH
Practice and review describing people, identifying people, and "being visual" (genders, height, body-type, age, clothing)
Read about Deaf President Now
During the fifth week, please:
Continue to practice describing and identifying people in a visual manner, telling a mini-story about those people
Discuss and respond to likes and dislikes - activities, objects, places, ideas
Read about famous Deaf Americans
During the sixth week, please:
Practice and review signs for family members and discussing relationships
Tell us about your immediate family in a mini-story
Read about ASL grammar and sentence structure
During the seventh week, please:
Practice and review expressing and understanding others' want and needs
Create a mini-story where you tell others about what you want/need
Create a mini-story where you ask others about their wants/needs
Read about appropriate Deaf interactions and expectations
During the eighth week, please:
Practice and review ASL concepts for work and home activities, chores, and duties
Create a mini-story about the home activities/chores you like/don't like
Read about Interpreters and what "qualified" means
During the ninth week, please:
Review and practice animal signs and gesturing/visually describing
Create a mini-story about the animals/pets you own (or would like to own)
Read about Deaf Clubs in America (and other Deaf organizations)
During the tenth week, please:
Practice ASL signs for food, drink, community, work
Create a mini-story about the food/drink you like
Create a mini-story about your community/work and the people you interact with
Read about the Americans with Disabilities Act and the rights of Deaf people to "access"
